Session I: Return to Body
July 4–11, 2026
The first session opens the Analog Weeks and marks the beginning of Wakaranai Lodge.
This week focuses on reconnecting with the body.
This week offers the opportunity to slow down, to feel, breathe, and simply be.
Depending on weather and group dynamics, we will explore the surrounding nature of Tomamu, move together, cook shared meals, and spend time getting to know one another. During the week we will also participate in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, offering a quiet moment of reflection and cultural connection.
As humans, we are no longer used to communicating as naturally as we once did. By removing the digital layer, we create space for deeper, more authentic connection. With ourselves, with others, and with the environment around us.
Session II begins two weeks from now, with a wandering week in between. Some guests move through both. If that's on your mind, we're happy to talk through how you might spend that middle week.
Denise and Hannah hold this week together.
Denise leads movement sessions rooted in physical, meditative yoga: grounding rather than performative, present rather than instructional. She is one half of Wakaranai and brings the warmth and rhythm that holds the week together.
Hannah practices holistic integrative bodywork and brings somatic and neuromuscular awareness to the week: supporting participants in reconnecting with physical sensation, presence, and ease in the body.
The focus is not instruction for its own sake. It's support as the group finds its own rhythm.
Japanese traditions and rural Hokkaido life are woven into the week, not performed.
A rhythm to each day. Rest. Spontaneity.
Activities are invitations, not requirements:
bodywork sessions
time outside every day
solo, paired, and small-group time
shared meals and simple daily rituals
tea ceremony (茶道)
exploring the area: weather and group set the pace
Some days quieter. Some more playful. All unhurried.
A typical day: Morning: gentle movement or time outside, then shared breakfast. The day unfolds: outdoor time, group experiences, rest, meals. Evenings: cooking together, talking, or sitting in the quiet.
Phones: we recommend off the whole time. We don't take them. You choose.
One contact email and lodge number. You or someone at home can reach us if needed.
Less distraction. More of what's in front of you: nature, movement, meals, each other.
Specific needs? We'll work with you.
Bodywork: awareness, sensation, how the body holds tension and ease.
Simple somatic and movement practices. How that shapes how you move, relate, connect.
Gentle. Accessible. Not therapy. No experience needed.
Group size: 8 people
Open to individuals, couples, siblings, or friends
Small so it stays intimate. No pressure to perform.
Single or double rooms
Shared living spaces designed for comfort and slowness
The Lodge is a shared home for the week, not a hotel.
