And it was another good day. Akira stayed the night, and then we went hard on some work. We are pulling off the sheetrock on a main wall in our main room, so then we can put plywood, then cork up. Its going to be an accent wall, as well as the back stop to our sound system, to help with accoustics. We have had the cork sitting around for a long minute, so pretty stoked to finially have that project in the works and get that up soon.
We also worked on shikkuing the stair well, after we put up the prekkui a couple days ago. We went green for the ceiling, and blue for the walls. Its looking sweet, and we will see how it looks as it lightens up over the next couple days. Really hitting a flow for getting the consistency, and recipe dialed for good diy shikkui. It seems to be a bit of a lost art, and even when speaking with my friends, most of them are buying a premix, so its pretty sweet going backish to the roots. I need to make up a batch of funori glue to have it fully authentic, so will be doing that soon.
After the morning/early day of these projects, we went out to our friends with the sheep farm, Ryo and Shiho. Ryo is actually the top sheep dog trainer in all of Japan, and we got to see his border collie, gypsy, going to work. Really incredible to see that relationship. He is going to Wales next year for the top international sheep dog training contest, where him and gypsy are going to represent japan.
It was nice hanging out with them, and just chatting and watching the sheep. Denise got to practice being a sheep dog for a bit, and she herded and moved them around, running back and forth. It was funny to watch, but that is just how denise is.
After that, back home, and put, what I hope is, the second to last shaping layer on the sink. One more layer after this, and then tadelakt time. The end is so close.
All in all, a sick one today. it felly highly productive, and good to go hang out with our new friends.
have a great day n wakaranai.
