Today the mixer showed up, n damn it is sick. Compared to using my drill and a paint mixer attachment, this thing gooooooes. On top of that, last time in Obihiro at Joyful Ak, we bought finer sand, and the combo of that and the mixer, allowed me to really dial in the shikkui mix. I also made a limewash as well.
On top of this, we started work on getting mortar on the sink, starting with taping the seams and mortaring those. It was definitely difficult, because you have to work quick, as the cement board just sucks the moisture out of the mortar, but we got a good chunk of that done. Tomorrow, we should be able to get the rest of the seams taped and mortared, and then we can start doing the inital shaping of the sink, so pretty hype on that forsure.
We had Oda-san over for dinner tonight. He has been helping us out immensely, and he manages another guest house in town here. He helped us with setting up all of our bills and getting things squared away here. It is fun having friends over, because then I get to dig into the bag, and make things that I haven't been normally making here, because I am trying to offer them food that suprises them a bit, so tonight I made some kebap and flatbread, and a risotto-ish dish, and a greek salad sans feta.
After dinner we got him going on some lamps too, and just had a nice time. It is cool seeing the creativity unlock, as people start twisting the wire.
All in all, good, rainy day here in Tomamu. Things are stepping forward, one after another, and stoked to see how tomorrow goes. All good vibes, all good times.
have a great day n wakaranai.
