closing day

Back

to ski or not to ski

closing day spring skiing at the base

today was closing day, and it poured rain last night. Honestly, when we woke up today, and got started with our day, we made the decision not to go out skiing today, just weren't feeling it. Denise started to paint, putting a small mural on the cover of the circuit breaker box lids, and I started mixing up another batch of lime putty. We mailed it in, happy with our season wrapping up.

Then we got some bad news, we failed the Minpaku test, and will have to pay more money and retake it in a month, pushing our optimistic timeline back a month. So we made the call, the sun came out, and we threw on our ski gear to catch a couple more laps. The rain took away last night, and the bottom of the resort was equal parts river, and equal parts beach. We took the gondola up, and skied down in the sun, and decided to go again, for one more. We got an ice cream cone at the top, and ate it while looking out over the town and the resort. There was barely anyone else out skiing, I mean I knew there were a couple, but we saw no one while skiing.

It was good to get out for a couple laps, to put a pin in it, and say goodbye to one of my favorite winters yet. The year we had our own place. Where skiing wasn't a stress, but purely a joy. Living only 7 minutes from the lifts, and in a place where there is less ski pressure, is really a nice thing.

We came home, cooked up some soba, then cracked on with it. We shikkuied the ceiling today, and put primer coats on the final wall. we are waiting for our lilac pigment to come, then we will mix up another batch of it, to give some accent to our matcha green. It honestly went so well today, and we are really dialing in both the motion, as well as the consistency of the plaster. I am getting super excited for doing the rest of the lodge, and it is already looking so so sick. That sink room is going to go so hard, especially when we get the sink done, so hype on that.

Speaking of which, we are going to town tomorrow, to hopefully get the last of the wood we need to complete that, so we can get that built and worked on later this week. Gahh getting stoked just thinking about all of it.

after plaster work, we had a good dinner, then I proceeded to write and chat with my good homie Luka, and denise kept painting. Then I got in the mood and started painting on a paper clay sculpture I had made.

And now here we are. The end of another great day.

P.S. As I was going through our website analytics, I saw a link from a random blog. I clicked on it, and scrolled through, and low and behold, we were mentioned in there:

交差点の東側にある謎のロッジは結構広い
外人向けのわらかないロッジとして掲載されている

You can check out the post for more good laughs. We are starting to be known a little bit around here. I hope to ski some pow turns with him next year.

Have a great day n wakaranai.
