Today was saturday, the second to last day before the resort closed, and we chose not to go skiing. It was sunny and nice out, but we had bigger goals in mind. Denise n riley dreamed of shikkui, and shikkui we did.
We got a couple more walls, and the ceiling prepped with the base coats, and that took a solid 4 hours, but by the time we were putting the last of the primer on, we were starting to get the hang of it, and stuff was happening faster.
We took a lunch break, then went back and shikkui-ed our wall that we had primed yesterday, and man on man, was it both easy, and it looked good, albeit a bit dark, but when it drys out it should be a light matcha green, instead of the darker olive green it is now. super hype on that tho, just like going on like a dream, our prep work was worth it.
yep just one of those days, satisfying, watching work go quickly, and learning and feeling. Natural plastering is kind of one of those intuitive things, especially when you are making up your own mixes. Time will tell if we did a good job, and inevitably we are making mistakes, but shogunai. you live and you learn.
I was doing more research tonight, and then I got ahah-ed, and realized that I could use the slaked lime we had for doing the tadelakt sink. I thought we needed nhl, aka hydraulic lime, but in reality, I just needed to make a lime putty by soaking my slaked lime for a week, and it would work just fine for my needs, so that was a major win, because sourcing nhl was proving to be a major pain.
Things are coming together tho, and I am getting excited to make our town run, so I can get the rest of the wood for the sink, and we can get that together. its the funny thing where projects move slow, slow slow, then bam, its full on cruising, and shit is coming together. Thats the way it goes I guess.
closing day tomorrow, and even though I can hear the rain coming down right now, it should be sunny during the day, and we will go out to take a few laps to close it down in style. It will be slushy and water skiing at the bottom, but if we get on the steeper stuff, we will still fly a bit. sick.
anyways, have a great day n wakaranai.
