paper clay at the lodge

Today I spent a good deal of time writing. It was kind of grey outside, and it rained in the evening. Just one of those days.

For our business, one of us, denise or I, needs to be a licensed property manager. Denise drew the short straw in this one, so she got to study for the last week, sit through 7 hours of lectures today, then take a test, all in Japanese. We don't get the results for a week, but fingers crossed that she killed it, because it would really not be fun to have to sit through all that again.

In good news, I think my plaster man, Shingo-san, might have sourced NHL for us, or more colloquially, Hydraulic Lime. This is the lime we need for doing tadelakt finish for our sink room sink, and has been a really difficult thing to find here in Japan, so if he actually found it, that will be incredibly exciting.

But yes I wrote a lot today. I have started a project called Wakaranai Field Guide. It is equal parts blog, and kind of a guide to central hokkaido. I just need a creative outlet, to talk about the people, places, and moments here, in a way that offers a different view of what Hokkaido has to offer, contrary to what social media might tell us.

Saturday/Sundays, are also Mild Panic Press days, so it was fun putting that together. This week, it went multi media, with some extra collaborations, so fun watching this project grow, and getting to have my more creative outlet.

Denise and I also spent some time paper claying today. I finally started getting the mix dialed in, so it will be cool to start making more stuff, and seeing what we do. Slowly creating the little pieces that make the lodge come alive.

Today was a day, as yesterday was also a day, and tomorrow will also be.

Happy to be here, happy to be building, happy to be writing. Lets seeeee.

Have a great day n wakaranai.
