little lessons in light with sensei Akira

lighting my way lamp building night

big day today, crushed the floor of the bathroom. Shes all sealed up. We are still going to have to go back and cut wholes through for our hot and cold water, and the drain pipe, but all of our insulation is in place, and the ply is on top. We made quick work of it today when we got into the flow of it.

At the same time I was prepping the paper clay mixture, pulse then straining all the book mush from yesterday.

We had our friend Akira over for dinner. He works as a lifty on the top lift here at the resort, n all winter long, everytime he saw us, he was stoking out at seeing us, and just all around good vibes. We saw a lot of him this year out riding that lift, shredding pow, getting hyped, hyping him up. We finially had him over for dinner tho, and it was a slammer meal I put together.

After dinner, I dove back into the paper clay, and we started twisting wire for making lamps and we all started going in on it. A couple hours later, Akira had constructed a beauty of a lamp, and denise n I had made big strides into putting together our own lamps as well. Nothing like the joy of a bit of intentional light.

It was really pleasant watching Akira work, and the intuitiveness he approached the light. It definitely made me think deeply about stuff, watching him work, and then getting to enjoy and appreciate it when it was done. It made me excited for future art with akira, I know we have many fun projects ahead of us.

All in all, a great great day, and much needed after what yesterday was.

Have a great day n wakaranai.
