Today was a day to make some things. We escaped the grind of the sink room project, atleast I did. Denise got to hang out with the paint fumes and get some coating onto the ply floor we are putting in to that room. I was sprung free for some fun stuff.
Since moving in here, between business setup stuff, town runs, people around, more pressing projects, and a shit load of skiing, we have been kinda neglecting our living space.
Yeah its nice and clean and comfortable, but we just kinda were rolling with what was there. A table that was too big to be useful, and taking up too much space, a desk that wasn't ideal, not enough storage, sound system chilling without a good spot. Today was a day to attack that. First off I built us a hybrid eating/project table. Plywood n 2x4s babyyy, I guess its the vibe. I try to throw some joinery into my projects, and this one I had kind of a lap joint, and some dowel joinery. Pretty stoked with how it turned out. Then the next order was building myself a better desk, this one was a bit more simple, but gave my self a nice L shaped desk mounted on the wall. Third was building Denise's standing desk, crushed through that one too. And finally it was working on a little shelf unit for the amp, and record player and all the vinyls. Glues drying on that one but should be all ready to go tomorrow.
The space feels noticeably better, after one day of thrashing. Denise organized everything, and in another session like today, it will be getting to ideal.
Not that life is about efficiency, but doing the annoying parts, more efficiently leaves time, for the fun parts. Whether that is business work, or whatever sewing/painting/woodburning/embroidery/paper clay projects we got going on. Having a space to easily set up and get ready, makes the making easier to happen.
So here we are, another day done, big steps forward.
And oh yeah we bought a bunch of cork for a wall in the main living room, that arrived today, so hyped to check that out tomorrow as well.
Have a great day and wakaranai.
