It started out with 9 am horse/sheep manure compost. Big shouts to the local homie Kazuma-san. 10000 yen for too dump truck loads of it will put us well on our way to building a thriving ecosystem in the backyard. Crawling with little red worms.
Akira came over again today, and we went hard in the prekkui game. While we were at it, denise was cutting the backyard grass/weeds low, and covering it with cardboard, then the manure, then the woodchips that came yesterday. I had dug a test hole, just to get a feeling for our soil hydrology, and we have a thin layer of gravel from the construction of the lodge, then a rocky top soil, followed by a pretty rocky clay layer. All pretty expected for the location of our lodge, so that was good to see. Using the woodchip/compost/cardboard system will super charge building our topsoil layer, and we will be able to do some really cool stuff in the future with the yard.
This evening we went to our local spot, Yunosawa Onsen, and had shikka don, and a good soak, followed by ice cream. We saw deer and foxes on the road on the way back, and fortunately didn't have any too close of encounters. On to the next
have a great day n wakaranai
